Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Well, outside of two early 2000s CSX installs on the ATN, there aren't any other CSX crossings (current or former) that have Harmon crossbucks:ToledoRailfan wrote:But Railroad archaeologists haven't confirmed it yet.freebrickproductions wrote:That's a Harmon crossbuck, which does use a different front. Conrail was a huge user of them, though I have seen a few elsewhere. There is some evidence that CSX may have used them at one point.NathanFromEngland wrote: Is it just me, or is this crossbuck have a different font?

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Old cantilever signal in Washington Court House, OH:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5366979 ... 312!8i6656
Some classic signals, though I wouldn't be surprised if these were upgraded to LED, as Ohio seems to require all gateless crossings to be LED:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5462685 ... 328!8i1664
More classics, likely also since upgraded though:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.552584, ... 312!8i6656
GRS 8 inch lights!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5526907 ... 312!8i6656
Some more classic signals:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7714462 ... 312!8i6656
The Griswold cantilever still retains a pair of Type B lights!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.771351, ... 312!8i6656
More GRS 8 inch lights!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.77116,- ... 312!8i6656
And in action!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7702691 ... 312!8i6656
Doesn't look like CSX runs through this crossing anymore, but it appears that they still maintain their 1990s signal install. The NS crossing also has a pair of 1990s Conrail signals, though with the bell replaced:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7731692 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7733764 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7733764 ... 312!8i6656
A rather cool modern NS crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8139932 ... 312!8i6656
Sadly replaced an almost-pure 1990s Conrail install:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8142145 ... 328!8i1664
Old RACO signals here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9070483 ... 312!8i6656
Some old Federal Signal signals here, I wonder if the gate mechs are also from Federal Signal?
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9180505 ... 312!8i6656
More old Griswold equipment here! Wow!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9341398 ... 312!8i6656
Some cool old signals here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8835092 ... 312!8i6656
More classic signals here, though likely LED now:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8822668 ... 312!8i6656
Some Safetran S-85s here!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9594171 ... 328!8i1664
Looks like they may have since been replaced though, sadly.
Pure late Conrail installs!

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9610219 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9615513 ... 312!8i6656
Looks like the first two might be gone now though.
Another pure 1990s Conrail install!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9620899 ... 312!8i6656
Somehow this old cantilever signal has managed to avoid replacement:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9645891 ... 312!8i6656
More Safetran S-85s!
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9655518 ... 312!8i6656
Quite an upgrade here!

Pure 1990s CSX install on a former CSX line:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9448375 ... 312!8i6656
Big crossing on a CSX line with some old 8 inch signals. Checkout how the signal for the side street doesn't have a gate while the other two do! And I'm betting there used to be a spur here, based on how far back it is:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9701222 ... 312!8i6656

Another tall mast:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5936766 ... 312!8i6656
This looks like it'd be a cool spot to railfan some industrial switching action from, if you didn't have to stand on the side of a highway bridge, that is! Still looks really cool though:

No. I forget the name of the company, but it's some Dutch company that makes all of the crossing equipment for the Netherlands. It appears that a lot of their stuff is based off of GRS/WRRS equipment.NathanFromEngland wrote:Is this a Westinghouse gate mechanism?
