Unfortunately this year the crossbuck was replaced:

Nice find! It is a bummer that it was replace, not everyday that something like that is still in service until quite recently, at least in the eastern part of the country.

The out of service crossing also had a signal with a split crossbuck.

Active (and odd looking) crossing in Memphis, TN:

Not sure why the extra set of lights... unless at one time they were pointed towards the side road.

Extra cantilever for an off ramp off of I-55 in Memphis:

Cuz one crossbuck isn't enough.

Got an MI bell too! Not many of those left on the NS.

Memphis, TN has a lot of cool stuff as well. UP, NS, CN, CSX, BNSF, and RJ Corman all own crossings and lines there. However, unlike IL, it seems that the railroads haven't felt the need to make sure everything is extremely modern in the Memphis area (likely due to a lack of a requirement for 12 inch lights). :TUP2:
Would like to get out there, but I'd have to make it a multi-day trip due to the fact that it's 4 hours away.
They/Them for me, please.

Holy crap! The east, west, and (partly) the north all meet up with each other there.

Why aren't they required down there?

Memphis and Tennessee follow the MUTCD guidelines of allowing all 8 inch lights to remain in service until the end of their service life, along with 8 inch lights being allowed to be installed on roads with a speed limit of 30 MPH or less (though almost every railroad specs 12 inch now), but Illinois has had 8 inch lights banned from being installed for years now, and the vast majority have been quickly replaced. Plus, it just seems like the railroads in Illinois just like to upgrade everything in that state.
They/Them for me, please.

The signalized part of the crossing (or the other crossing) has classic signals.

This wayside signal (I guess it can be considered wayside signal) is also pretty interesting, I remember posting a similar signal like this to the forum.
