I've never personally seen a signal like that with a box right on the mast for (I'm guessing) manual operation.

I wonder if gates would've helped in this case? Somehow I feel that if the driver was that distracted, I doubt it.

something was surely going on there, he didn't even stop. he plowed right into it. I mean how could you not see the large rectangular object slowing going right to left across the tracks blocking the road??? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out, because we sure dont have many of them.

I don't think the "STOP - DEATH - STOP" setup with the air raid horn would have prevented this dips

it from smacking into 'em. I feel sorry for the police having to take the report though. They were probably doing everything possible not to laugh while taking dumb

That has to be one of the best real-life grade crossing accident video clips ever recorded, in terms of documenting sheer stupidity. What a moron. That guy standing by the crossing (the one who later leaned into the car, presumably to ask if the driver was OK) must not have been looking up, otherwise he'd have been waving his arms and shouting "STOP YOU DUMB

!" when he realized the car was not slowing down.
