I think the reason why the triangle has survived is because there was no "RAIL CROSSING" sign under it and whoever was responsible for removing the signals had no idea what the triangle was for and thus they left it.
Can't be too many crossings around with a teardrop bell mounted on the cantilever, Corrigan Rd at Noble Park is the only other one that comes to mind.
