That's because there likely was another set of tracks right there.NathanFromEngland wrote:Don't know why these signals are so far back from the crossing.

It probably died and the WCH mechanical bell is what the maintainer had on hand at the time.NathanFromEngland wrote: General Signals E-Bell which was unnecessarily replaced with a WCH Mechanical bell.

I wasn't sure so I asked about it on the Railroad Signals group on Facebook. The consensus over there seems to be that it's a remote controlled switch with a spring switch indicator.NathanFromEngland wrote: Defect Detector? Why is there a green light?

Probably because NS took that signal out of service for some reason.NathanFromEngland wrote: A signal rotated to the side for an unknown reason.

NS likely didn't have a tall enough mast for both the crossbuck and the side lights for some reason, and had to do that.
Oddly enough, IIRC, there aren't any wayside horns there, nor is that a quiet zone. NS literally upgraded those crossings in that town to quad gates with those signal indicators for almost no reason.NathanFromEngland wrote: I never knew NS used wayside horns.

Looks like that might be able to handle three or four different gauges there, though it looks like only one is used with the rust that's on two of the rails there.ToledoRailfan wrote:Railroad crossing on a section of track that is both gauntleted and dual gauge.
