Their design is unique, but visibility is another thing about them...

Yep, they ain't very visible except from head on or in low light.

Sorry for drifting a bit off topic but does anyone remember this crossing in a small rural town in Northern Michigan that had it's lights somewhat recently replaced by 12" GRS LEX-C lights?

Wow! I didn't even know that! Glad they kept the Teardrop though! Someone needs to get some updated shots of that crossing if at all possible!

Someone did kind of get footage of the crossing almost three years ago with Pere Marquette 1225 leading an excursion.

They probably just had them laying around for years and years.
