Andrew Jackson Pkwy, Nashville, Tennessee

Post by Ethan the Railfanner »

Here we go again with Nashville and Eastern RR Crossings. This is Andrew Jackson Pkwy, in Nashville Tennessee in the Hermitage Area.

1st Video was taken by TrainmanKnight on February 15, 2008.
2nd Video was taken by me on March 24, 2018.

Signal on the Left: 4 Pairs of Harmon 12x20 Lights, 1 Pair of Safetran 12x20 Lights with Dialight Bulb LEDs, A General Signals Type 2 E-Bell, and NEG? Gatelights
Signal on the Right: 4 Pairs of Harmon 12x20 Lights, 1 Pair of Safetran 12x20 Lights with Dialight Bulb LEDs, A General Signals Type 2 E-Bell, 1 NEG? Gatelight, and 2 NEG 7 Inch Gatelights.

This is also one of the few crossings on the NERR where it still has incandescent lights when the Music City Star goes through the crossing.

My video has a better view on the crossing than the first one. I recommended you watch it because it has better quality.

Also caught 2 Ex-CSX Locomotives as well.

Got a video of it myself on 12-4-18:

Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and 4 inch NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a dead General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, two 7 inch NEG LED gate lights and a 4 inch NEG LED gate light.

This crossing is one of the nicer ones along the NERR mainline between Nashville and Lebanon, as it's one of about five that still features incandescent lights. Both cantilevers here were originally gateless and had been installed by the early-ish NERR, and likely featured two WCH mechanical bells (though it's just as likely there was just one WCH mechanical bell). However, in the early 2000s, the NERR installed gates here, removed one pair of lights from each cantilever, and replaced the bell(s). Interestingly enough, they installed the gate masts "facing" the same direction, so all of the lights facing towards the camera here are incandescent. About 10 years ago, as per one of trainmankight's videos, the right-hand signal had all 7 inch gate lights and a working GS Type 2 bell. Just to the east of this crossing is the Music City Star Hermitage Station.

(Also, since this is in Nashville and not Hermitage, I've updated the title accordingly; though technically Hermitage, TN is part of Nashville's city limits.)
They/Them for me, please.
