Mulberry Lane, Barton, AL
*originally recorded on 3-21-18*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
This crossing got these signals back in 2008 (replacing some crossbucks, IIRC), but, interestingly enough, the crossing only features one bell, which is kinda rare for modern NS installs here in Alabama. This signalized crossing is the first one west of Garner Lane.

After catching 286, I decided to head west to the Memphis West to see if anything was running. Thankfully, just before I needed to hit the road for Memphis, I was able to catch my second and only other train of the day: NS 204 with an AC44C6M leading an SD70ACe, an ES44DC, another AC44C6M, an ES44AC, and a third AC44C6M for power! Definitely nice to catch a six-locomotive lash-up on this train, not often you see a larger powermove like this.
Since I last filmed this crossing all the way back in 2018, a couple things here have changed, though thankfully nothing too much has changed here at the same time. The only two things here that changed here since 2018 were that both gate arms here were replaced with newer ones, and that the gate lights on the closer signal got upgraded to NEG LEDs by NS. Thankfully, nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing since I recorded it nearly eight years ago, which is nice to see.
