Actually, these signals are new! Around this time last year when I went up there, they were doing some work on the road, and working on wireing and the bases for the signals. And in September when I came up to close down our cabin for the winter, they finished up installing these, and had been testing them out. Anyway, I dont know why they upgraded from crossbucks to signals, because there rarely is a train that comes through here anymore.

2. It is wierd because, they replaced the crossings in downtown Gaylord, with crossbucks, and put these on Wisconsin Street just outside of downtown.

I have to agree with TrainmanKight on this one.

Those are Harmon fading LEDs. Even though they are in Safetran frames, the LED is from Harmon.

In the Kansas section, there are WCH clear LEDs in Safetran frames as well. The LEDs can be mixed up quite often. Also quite a few crossings in the Glendale/Phoenix area also have Harmon fading LEDs in Safetran frames too.

About 2 years ago, Patrick tried experimenting with putting LEDs inside frames, but unfortunately, it only works with 8" Griswolds. The way they work Today won't work.

I think one company does make the LED bulbs that would screw into an incandescent fixture...

VELCORP/GEMS

http://www.velcorpgems.com

They are the makers of that brilliant LED Power indicator for the cases. I love those things...

Yeah. That's why I talking about the 8" Griswold lights earlier. Those kinds of LED lights would work just fine in those since the light appears from the front, instead of the sides, like Today's lights do.

I just really wonder how much money really goes into making these LED lights.... I don't know how big those lights really are, but some of the smaller ones seem to be so expensive ($6.95 for three LEDs), when I can find some for $0.02 on Ebay.

I'm talking about the T-1 (3mm) size of course... I'd still wonder if a good 8 or 12" light could be made for under $25 without charging $200 to $400...
