I believe I posted that crossing before. The train appears to be stopped.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Streetview ignored the active signals at this crossing in Sterrett, AL even though a train is coming!

Nice signals BTW (even if the crossing has an e-bell).
Also, the short passing siding just down the line from there features some old Central of Georgia-era Searchlight signals!

I actually stumbled across them by accident in April and got these photos:

US&S Searchlight Signals by freebrickproductions, on FlickrThe foundation for a PTC antenna has been there for a few years it appears, so I doubt they'll be going anytime soon, especially since NS likely doesn't want to upgrade this line as the only regular trains along it are local freights. There is the occasional empty Scherer coal that runs north along the line, along with a few mixed freights assigned to it, but said mixed freights barely run along this line (usually routed via Atlanta, GA).
Also, I didn't get up close to the crossing in person, but I believe that I saw that the 8 inch lights at it have since been replaced, sadly...

Mechanical bells really aren't completely archaic. Keep in mind that E-bells first started to come around in 90s.NathanFromEngland wrote: The other WABCO bell was (Strangely enough) replaced by a Safetran mechanical bell)

I wouldn't be surprised if it has a blue tag now as that image was taken back in 2011. The reason for it not having white DOT tags might be because the crossing is private and passive and is there for not that high priority.NathanFromEngland wrote: This crossing has a metal DOT tag! That is some shitty track there but it could be possible. They might just need to clean it up it a bit along that one rail.NathanFromEngland wrote: I REALLY DON'T think trains will be able to pass here...

It is kinda weird seeing a two-way crossing with modern signals not have any rear lights. Not really sure what you mean by where are the front lights.NathanFromEngland wrote: Where's the rear and front lights?

That's a WABCO gate mech, not a Safetran S-85.NathanFromEngland wrote: Safetran S-85!

He's probably asking why there isn't any lights on the ends of the cantilever arms, which would be due to the cantilevers literally being too long for the road (with the ends being over a median).ToledoRailfan wrote:It is kinda weird seeing a two-way crossing with modern signals not have any rear lights. I wonder if all of the pedestrian gates go down if the crossing activates for just one train.NathanFromEngland wrote: Again! More weird setups

Looks like they decided to re-use the cantilever signals at that crossing when adding gates. The older bell (looks to be an MI or US&S one) was likely disconnected seeing as both signals have WCH mechanical bells on the masts.NathanFromEngland wrote: Not sure why, but when the IRR upgraded this crossing, they kept the mechanical bell!
