Re: Tracks out of service
Burnham, Maine.
Not sure who were the last owners of this line, but they must've had their line abandonment plan approved at the end of the 2000's or before that, as street view from 2007 doesn't show EXEMPT signs posted on the crossing.
The first crossing is right in front of an active rail line, it's just a plain crossbuck crossing.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.69279 ... 312!8i6656
If you look to the left, there may've been a switch there at one point, or it may've been a siding for car storage.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.69284 ... 312!8i6656
The next crossing is one that intersects with one for the active rail line and the other for the abandoned spur.
The first crossing looks to be a 1970's/80's Safetran installation, although the signal on the left appears to slanted slightly.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.69092 ... 312!8i6656
The next crossing is the same, albiet some changes.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.69142 ... 312!8i6656
Another crossing not too far away has, no equipment to be seen.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.66825 ... 312!8i6656
This one only has a crossbuck.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.65434 ... 312!8i6656
The tracks aren't too bad, but the ties in the tracks are nearly unviewable.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.65441 ... 312!8i6656
The stop lines here could indicate there was signals orignally here, or crossbucks
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.63631 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.63594 ... 312!8i6656
There's still an advance warning sign here!
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.61789 ... 312!8i6656
It appears the line goes back to an active status, although there was EXEMPT signs in 2011.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.61683 ... 312!8i6656
The track overgrowth here is insane.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.61508 ... 312!8i6656
Why is one of the lights here white?
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.57943 ... 312!8i6656
What the heck
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.57855 ... 312!8i6656
There's an abandoned MOW equipment here.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.57857 ... 312!8i6656
The wooden ties here aren't in a great condition.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.54238 ... 312!8i6656
There's a relay case here, but i see crossbucks.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@44.55070 ... 312!8i6656
After a while, the line appears to just randomly cut off.

Re: Tracks out of service
Found this video while searching up CSX Taft Yard
It shows the abandoned trackage in use around 2004 at one point in the video, where the CSX train moves along the Columbia Avenue crossing (SCL signals are long gone) until stopping so a switch can be changed to get to its consist. Soon after another switch is thrown so it can reverse to retrieve the rest of its consist.
Timestamps are included:
1:24
6:03
While i was browsing street view on S Hughey Avenue, there's a section of trackage, this is long gone too. My possible guess was there may've been an industrial spur here decades ago until the unit closed down decades and there was no use for the spur anymore. Whatever was the industrial unit several decades ago is now a reprographics building.
https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5321593 ... 312!8i6656
Most of the trackage was cut here when CFCR began to work on the SunRail corridor, the trackage was cut here so a Darth Vader signal could go here.
https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5323891 ... 312!8i6656
The old wooden grade at the Erenestine Street crossing is still there as of December 2016.
https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5323869 ... 312!8i6656
There was also a rubber grade at the West Gore Street crossing, but for some reason a crossing signal was installed there in 2015, the rubber grade was still there in March 2016, but gone by December.

https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5312271 ... 312!8i6656
Followed by some remains of trackage...
https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5327513 ... 312!8i6656
It appears the line cuts off just right at the America Street crossing.
https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5339001 ... 312!8i6656
The switch here that was in the video is also long gone.

Originally the gate was on the other side of Hughey, which made no sense because it would block traffic turning onto Hughey from Gore.NathanFromEngland wrote:There was also a rubber grade at the West Gore Street crossing, but for some reason a crossing signal was installed there in 2015, the rubber grade was still there in March 2016, but gone by December.

It's also weird for CSX to use WCH lightheads.ZachL wrote:Originally the gate was on the other side of Hughey, which made no sense because it would block traffic turning onto Hughey from Gore.NathanFromEngland wrote:There was also a rubber grade at the West Gore Street crossing, but for some reason a crossing signal was installed there in 2015, the rubber grade was still there in March 2016, but gone by December.

#1. CSX currently uses WCH light-heads.NathanFromEngland wrote:It's also weird for CSX to use WCH lightheads.ZachL wrote:Originally the gate was on the other side of Hughey, which made no sense because it would block traffic turning onto Hughey from Gore.NathanFromEngland wrote:There was also a rubber grade at the West Gore Street crossing, but for some reason a crossing signal was installed there in 2015, the rubber grade was still there in March 2016, but gone by December.

#2. That's not a CSX signal.
Also, the LEDs are GE Uniform Look LEDs.
They/Them for me, please.
