Rusty Rails - Semi-vs Train - Signal Failure

Just found this on youtube. A semi collides with a train at a grade crossing due to signal failure. At the end of the video, you can see that the top of the rails are rusty, which is a likely cause of the signal failure.


I say that the railroad is at fault here. It is standard knowlege that rusty rails cause signal failure. They should have stopped and vertifed that the signals were working before entering the crossing, and flagged it if they did not work.


This is why all vehicles need dashcams. It shows that the driver was innocent in a situation where he would likely have been assumed guilty. If they can put cameras in cell phones, there is no reason not to put them, along with a black box like airpanes have, in vehicles

I know that if that had happened in the US, the railroad could potentially face trouble for not flagging the crossing due to the faulty signal. However, what the trucker did was definitely better than crossing the tracks.
