Here is the crossing on GSV which was taken a month before its closure.

This crossing has been closed off to traffic since July 2011, but the lights and equipment is still there although the rubber grade was removed last year. The lights, barriers, and yodalarms still work!
Here is a video, its not the best sorry, tried to find a video without its rubber grade but couldn't find one.

Here is the crossing today

This crossing has now finally been removed.

2017: Barriers permantly down and signals shut off

2018, Crossing completely removed.

One of the advance warning signs still exist however.

Based on this, I wouldn't really call that "closed off":

Still, it's a bit odd. Seems the street is some sort of gravel/dirt track

Texarkana, Texas.

I decided to take a look and see why this crossing is closed, so i loaded up Google Earth.

Image

It seems that in 1995, this was probably a residential area or trailer park, these houses would last up until around 2005 when the site was cleared. Since then the site has remained vacant.
Image

Judging by FRA reports, it doesn't exactly tell me when the crossing was closed off, but it's last update was strangely enough in 2013.

Also in 2007, you can clearly see a RXR marking visible.

What about that? The image was taken in March 2005. (hence the 3)

I guess so but sometimes aerial photography dates aren't always accurate in Google Earth.

EDIT: On second thought, I'm starting to think those are just lots that actually have no houses, even in the 1995 imagery. In other words, a subdivision was planned, lots were laid out, but never built on. The railroad crossing was eventually closed as a result of the abandonment.

I think you're right. In the 1995 image, I can't see any shadows cast by the "houses". It looks like they had just poured all of the foundations to build a neighborhood, but it fell through after that.
