Bell Placement

Given a crossing with cantilevers, where do you prefer the bell(s) to mounted? On top of the cantilever, or on the gate mast? Personally, I like them on top of the cantilever.

It doesn't matter where it goes for me, as long as there is one.

I voted for gate mast... because it would be just a little bit closer to the users (cars or pedestrians) and would be more easily heard... unless the intention is to warn the birds! :LOL4:

I wouldn't want them mounted on a small gate mast to where the bell is eye-level. You're just asking for vandalism there.

Either that or hearing loss, hehe.

Yep. That too... Although that's the first time I've seen Safetran type 3 installed on a short gate mast like that.

Here's another crossing just down the road from the one above... same style of signals, but these have mechanical bells on short gate masts.

I was surprised when I went by this crossing the other day that those mechanical bells are still there, and haven't been vandalized because this crossing is not in the best part of town.

There is another setup similar to that somewhere in Missouri that may be coming in a future update.
