Bell Placement
Given a crossing with cantilevers, where do you prefer the bell(s) to mounted? On top of the cantilever, or on the gate mast? Personally, I like them on top of the cantilever.

Re: Bell Placement
It doesn't matter where it goes for me, as long as there is one.
Re: Bell Placement
I voted for gate mast... because it would be just a little bit closer to the users (cars or pedestrians) and would be more easily heard... unless the intention is to warn the birds!

Re: Bell Placement
I wouldn't want them mounted on a small gate mast to where the bell is eye-level. You're just asking for vandalism there.

Either that or hearing loss, hehe.Smjh1979 wrote:I wouldn't want them mounted on a small gate mast to where the bell is eye-level. You're just asking for vandalism there.

Re: Bell Placement
Yep. That too... Although that's the first time I've seen Safetran type 3 installed on a short gate mast like that.
Re: Bell Placement
Here's another crossing just down the road from the one above... same style of signals, but these have mechanical bells on short gate masts.

I was surprised when I went by this crossing the other day that those mechanical bells are still there, and haven't been vandalized because this crossing is not in the best part of town.

Re: Bell Placement
There is another setup similar to that somewhere in Missouri that may be coming in a future update.
