Has it been that long already? Gosh, it feels just like yesterday since they began using LEDs!
I know, right? There are some days where I see the number of LED crossings on the NS and am like "wow, NS sure has been upgrading their crossings to LED rather fast!", and then I remember they started using LEDs 5 years ago...
Of course, it isn't helped by the fact that all-incandescent gated crossings seem to be getting rather hard to find on the NS these days, though that might be due to the fact that NS started really going through and restriping or replacing all of their older gate arms after they adopted LEDs, so many crossings now feature NEG or RECO LED gate lights as a result.
It's the same thing with CSXT. Tons of regular incandescents across their footprint, but incandescent gate lights are rare to come across these days.
Well, CSX has been using LEDs since the mid-2000s it appears, and has also done large-scale gate replacement program like NS has done.
Honestly, the diagonally striped gates seem to be rather hard to find these days, especially on Class Is and even on little-used lines like the CSX Dothan Sub!
And plus, i don't mean to go off-topic here but didn't NS only start using LED's as far back as late-2014? I wonder why they never did it earlier...

Definitely a shame, since that was a nice, classic SAL signal. Also, interestingly enough, between 2011 and 2013, the original US&S lights there were replaced with Safetran 8 inch lights (along with the cats-eyed crossbuck on the other signal, which looks to be more of an old ACL-style signal, IMHO).

I mean, they did reuse the SAL cantilevers at Church Street and the crossing to the west of there, but when i saw the videos i felt a bit irritated by the layout the crossing has now, im not OCD or anything, but sometimes i do find old and new being used at the same time.
I'm not particually too sure if thats the RACO bell that is used on Church Street, will need to look. At least it wasn't replaced in the upgrade!
