Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, a Modern Industries mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
This crossing is a very nice one, featuring a pair of MI signals (with Safetran gate mechs) that appear to have been installed by the Abbeville–Grimes Railway Co. in 1989, or maybe the very early 1990s, and haven't seen any changes since other than the addition of the ENS signs. The gate arm on the right is very slow to lower, not even being all the way down when the train enters the crossing! It also seems to be a bit slow to raise, though it isn't as bad as it does when lowering. The MI bell also still sounds quite healthy, and it rings when the gates are lowering and raising.
This is also the only other gated crossing on this branch. Surprisingly, neither one is on a state-maintained road, and not even either of the crossings on US 431 have gates!
They/Them for me, please.
