Spooner Quarter Road, near Jakin, GA

Post by freebrickproductions »

*originally recorded on 7-29-19*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of US&S 12x20 inch lights, a US&S mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of US&S 12x20 inch lights, a US&S mechanical bell, a US&S Model 75 gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After seeing the MOW vehicles in Bainbridge, I continued heading east and documenting the crossings to Cairo. Once I finished that, A724 didn't seem to be anywhere nearby, so I decided to cut my losses and head back to Dothan to get something to eat. However, much to my surprise, I saw A724 on the west side of Donalsonville, having just finished switching a customer there! As such, I chased him on over to this crossing just west of Jakin, where we see him rolling on through with a pair of YN2 AC44CWs leading a YN3 SD40-2!

Like GA 370 #1 in Saffold, this crossing is another earlier SBD install, which is still mostly original. The only major change here appears to be that the original US&S gate mech on the far signal was replaced in the 2000s with the current Safetran gate mech, with most of the rest of the crossing remaining entirely original. The bell on the closer signal also sounds a bit rough, though both bells still sound pretty healthy over all.
They/Them for me, please.

And the gate keeper on the near signal needs to be rotated just a bit too...
Well, :Censored:
