Ironaton Cutoff Road, Talladega, AL
*originally recorded on 4-2-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
After I caught A84 at Johnson Avenue, I chased them a bit further east. Thankfully, they had to stop and work a customer just before this crossing, which caused it to activate a few times (this being one of the times).
A84 dropped off the center-beam flatbed car at the customer, and then got back to their train. Here we see them heading east with a nice long cut of coiled steel cars to the next customer along the line (which I believe is the easternmost one as well).
This crossing is another pretty nice one. The signals here are some early to mid-90s NS ones, with the only change being that the original Safetran mechanical bell was replaced in the 2000s with the current General Signals Type 2 e-bell. This crossing is also the easternmost signalized crossing on this part of the NS Rome Line, as the next signalized crossing is all the way out in Oxford, on the opposite side of the OOS section of the line.
