Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After chasing A84 back to Childersburg, I tried to set-up one more time on the east side of town, thinking they'd be stopping to work RJ Corman again. However, they didn't, so I wound-up losing them. I drove around Childersburg a bit to see if anything was coming on the NS P Line, and sure enough, the signals were showing clear for a southbound! I decided to set-up at this crossing, where after a little while of waiting, this coal train heading for Wilsonville came crawling through with an SD70ACe leading a Dash-9 on the head-end, and another Dash-9 and an AC44C6M on the DPU. The train was coming to a stop just south of CP Bon Air, so the crew could align the switch and shove back up through the siding and up the connector track to the Rome Line in Childersburg.
This crossing is another pretty decent one. The signals here were installed in the mid-90s, but it appears that the original bell on the far signal was replaced sometime before 2015 (most likely in the 2000s), while the bell on the closer signal was replaced sometime between 2015 and now, making the bells a neat GS Type 2/Type 3 combo. The bells also ring when the gates rise still, which is quite nice to see.
They/Them for me, please.
