*originally recorded on 5-13-20*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

On May 13th, I went back down to the Birmingham Metro area to get the crossings documented on the NS AGS North District. While finishing-up this crossing, I heard a train horn to my north, so I went ahead and got set-up here. The train wound-up being a rather short NS 179, with an ET44AC leading a Dash-9, SD70ACe, ES44DC, and literally just 18 cars.

This crossing isn't the most interesting one out there, though it's probably one of the more interesting ones on the AGS North. It appears that in the early-2000s, either NS or the State of Alabama did a corridor upgrade to this line, so pretty much all of the crossings along it feature early-2000s NS installs that mostly haven't changed much since they were installed, other than the occasional 90s NS install or other old SOU install, generally with General Signals e-bells replacing the original ones (and newer Safetran 12x20s on the SOU signals). However, these signals were installed by NS in the late-2000s when the road here was built, and haven't had any major changes, making it the only crossing south of Attalla on the AGS North with a pair of Safetran Type 3s at it.
They/Them for me, please.
