Glenbrook Road #2, Anchorage, KY
*originally recorded on 5-26-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Transport Products Corp. gate mech, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
This crossing is located in a quiet zone. Trains do not blow their horns at this crossing.
This was the only train I caught on May 26th. It was Q575 heading south down the CSX LCL Subdivision with an ES40DC leading an ES44AH. The train also had a friendly crew onboard, who gave me a couple of horn salutes.
I had missed Q574 earlier in the day while eating lunch and Q142 didn't seem to come until after dark, so that's why there was no videos of them from the 26th.
However, despite only getting this one crossing, it was quite a nice one, so I'm glad I got it. It appears that this was originally a pretty early L&N TPC install, that probably remained largely unchanged for many years. Then, in the early to mid-90s, I'm guessing the closer signal got struck, so CSX replaced it, along with upgrading the lights on the other signal.
Since then, the crossing has pretty much remained untouched, outside of the new ENS signage and an LED upgrade to the gate lights. As such, the original early TPC gate mech here remains, complete with the original mount for a wooden gate arm! I am kinda surprised that CSX hasn't bothered replacing the crossbuck on this side though, as it's easily the most faded one I've seen on a Class I mainline.
They/Them for me, please.
