Wood Springs Road, LaGrange, KY
*originally recorded on 5-29-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a Safetran Type 2 electronic bell.
After catching Q574 in Buckner, I followed it over to LaGrange where it was meeting Q575 at LaGrange Siding. As such, I decided to go ahead and set on up at this crossing on the west side of LaGrange, where I saw Q575 roll through with an ES44AH pulling and an ET44AH pushing on the rear.
This crossing isn't the most interesting set-up out there, though I think it's a pretty alright one. The signals here are a late-90s CSX install it appears, though it appears that sometime between 2007 and 2013, the original General Signals (Type 1?) e-bell here was replaced with the current Safetran Type 2. No other major changes appear to have occured here though.
However, this crossing is the only gateless crossing left in the city of LaGrange, which is why I chose this one over either of the two ones to the east of it. It's also still a horn zone, which I personally find a bit odd, as the next crossing to the east is still a quiet zone and it does appear there are a fair number of houses around here.
They/Them for me, please.
