*originally recorded on 7-5-20*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of RACO 8 inch lights, 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

On July 5th, Ethan and I checked out of our hotel room in Vidalia and began to make our trek back to Huntsville. On our way, we decided to follow the NS Dublin District (documenting the OOS crossings along the line as we went). When we got up to Tennille, we decided to stop and see if anything was coming on the NS Savannah District, as there were still two 8 inch crossings in downtown Tennille. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait too long as what appears to have been NS 192 came through with an AC44C6M leading an ES44AC and an ET44AC!

This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a classic pair of 8 inch Safetran signals installed by the Southern Railway in the 1970s. It appears that the RACO 8 inch lights, while re-used, are original to the signals here, and more RACO equipment is always nice to see. Ethan was set-up at the crossing just to the east of this one, which has pretty much almost the exact same set-up, only with all Safetran 8 inch lights instead.
The 8 inch lights here are sadly rather dim for some reason, it seems, though the the lights on the other crossing seem to be nice and bright. I'm guessing that the lenses and/or reflectors here just need a good cleaning.
The crossings here also haven't seen too many major changes to them. In fact, the only changes I'm aware of were the original Safetran mechanical bells on them being replaced sometime after 2014, and both were replaced with the current GS Type 3s. All in all, these are some nice crossings and I'm glad we were able to record both of them.
They/Them for me, please.
