Snowville Brent Road, near Wyatt, AL
*originally recorded on 12-21-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After chasing NS 320 down the NA District, I continued to follow it down the West End District, where I caught it at my fourth crossing of the day. This crossing is a pretty decent one, featuring the only 90s signal left along the NS West End District.
Originally, there was a pair of 1990s NS signals here, which were still largely original into the 2000s. Sometime between 2008 and 2014 though, NS replaced the original Safetran mechanical bell here with a GS e-bell (most likely a Type 2). Then, in about 2015 or so, the far signal was replaced entirely, I'm guessing due to getting struck by a car. At about this same time, or sometime after, the bell here was replaced once again with the current GS Type 3.
This was also the last crossing on the NS West End District outside of Birmingham I had yet to record, so that's nice to have completed now.
