Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.

After catching NS 329, I chased NS 320 a bit more before heading back up to downtown Jasper, as I knew the BNSF local based there would be getting on duty soon enough. When I got up there, they were already starting to leave, so I drove on over to this nice little crossing just outside of Jasper to catch them. Here we see the local come through with a GP39-3 and a GP35u pulling a short train west along the BNSF Birmingham Subdivision.

This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a pair of older cantilever signals that I believe were originally installed by the Burlington Northern back in the 1980s. Then, in the 1990s, either the late-BN or early BNSF upgraded the lights here to all Safetran 12x20s, save for a trio of 12x24s on the overhead of the closer signal. Then, not long after, the lone bell here at the time (which was on the far signal) was replaced with a General Signals e-bell. The crossing remained relatively unchanged, until sometime between 2015 (or so) and 2019, when BNSF overhauled this crossing by upgrading all of the lights to LED, replacing all of the 20 inch backgrounds with 24 inch ones, and replacing the lone General Signals e-bell here with a pair of GS Type 3s. Since then, no more major changes appear to have occurred here, and these nice older Harmon cantilevers still stand.
They/Them for me, please.
