After catching the southbound grain train in Winfield, I chased it on down to this crossing in Kansas for my next shot of it. On my way down, however, I saw some signal maintainers digging a trench at Cunningham Road, where I confirmed that not only was that crossing about to get upgraded, there are apparently a total of 14 crossings along the Birmingham Sub that are currently planned to be upgraded, IIRC.

This crossing is a bit of an unusual one. The signals here are a somewhat modern BNSF install, yet I'm not entirely sure when they would've been installed. The Invensys Rail gate mechs would typically peg me as being from 2014 or before, yet the GS Type 3s didn't start popping-up on crossings until 2015, IIRC. To make matters even more confusing, TommyBNSF has told me before that he's seen BNSF put up Invensys Rail gate mechs as late as 2017 before, so I really have no idea how old these signals are (though I supposed I could check with the FRA's database).
Either way though, this crossing is certainly in a neat location where not only are the tracks curved through the crossing, there's also a sharp bend in the road right before it on this side, which makes for a neat angle. I would like to record a northbound here at some point, that's for sure.
