Mt. Pleasant Road, Collierville, TN
*originally recorded on 6-10-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a dying Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
As 201 seemed to have pulling past and then shoving into the yard at Rossville, 16A wound-up getting held at White Siding for a little while. As such, I drove on over to this crossing that I'd missed the night before in Collierville to record it. Here we get to see 16A once more before I returned to Memphis for another crossing.
This crossing's another pretty nice one, featuring a pair of mostly-"pure" late-mid-90s NS signals, installed not too long before NS started using GS Type 1s in the late-90s. Sadly, the Safetran mechanical bell here is sounding rather rough, with one of the internal parts getting worn out causing it to noticeably click as it rings, and then it also starts to noticeably struggle while the train's passing. Hopefully NS just gives it some needed TLC, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets replaced before too long. Either way though, I'm certainly glad I got to record this crossing when I did. Also neat to see though is that the bell here rings until the gates rise, something that, again, ain't too common to see on an NS install.
