Colonial Road, Memphis, TN
*originally recorded on 6-10-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.
After doing a short chase of 16A, I went back over to this crossing to see if I could record another train before heading on back home myself. Thankfully, after only about an hour of waiting, NS 265 came through with an ET44C4 (with a very quiet and noticeably fouled horn) leading an ES44AC and an ES44C4. After this, I made my way back home, though it wouldn't be the last train I'd see on the 10th.
This crossing is another awesome one, featuring a mostly-"pure" late-SOU/early-NS install from the early 1980s! In fact, the signals here are pretty much entirely original outside of the gate arms, gate lights, and ENS signage. These installs are certainly rather rare to see, especially with their original lights and bells, so I'm glad I was finally able to film one of these in action. Also, as a result of this crossing being almost completely unchanged, this crossing retains the last WCH mechanical bell on the Memphis West, which is also quite nice to see. It also still sounds decently healthy, so hopefully these signals remain unchanged for years to come.

Re: Colonial Road, Memphis, TN
The only change here as of 8-27-25 is that NS replaced the counterweight arms on the closer signal and that the bell here now rings until the signals shut-off.
