*originally recorded on 6-29-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, a dying WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching the SOFR, we got the crossings along that line documented and then, as Q197 was about to be leaving Savannah, we headed up to Rincon to get it recorded. Here we see it passing through on its way to Atlanta with an ET44AH leading and an ES44AH working as the mid-train DPU.
This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring what's essentially a "pure" 1980s CSX install. Unfortunately, the bells here are starting to sound a bit rough, especially the one closer to the camera, but it's still neat to see that these signals are almost entirely original. The signal on the far side still retains an older fiberglass gate arm with the diagonal striping, which is great to see as well. Said signal's crossbuck is mounted backwards too, lol.
Hopefully CSX fixes both bells here though and leaves these signals alone otherwise for years ago come.
They/Them for me, please.
