*originally recorded on 7-27-21*

Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, NEG LED gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.

On July 27th, I went back down to southern Georgia to get some more older signals filmed. On my way down, I stopped at a few crossings on the NS Atlanta South District, though this was the only one I caught a train at. The train that I caught on this day was NS 23N (IIRC) and had an SD70ACe leading a pair of Dash-9s and mostly autoracks.

This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a "pure" 1990s NS install. Unsurprisingly, both gate arms and all of the gate lights were replaced at some point, but otherwise, the crossing is still pretty much original. A bit unusually for NS, the bell here was put on the gate mast rather than the cantilever, so that was a bit neat to see. Looks like NS needs to do a bit of work on the lights though, as several of them are rather dim, so they probably need to be cleaned. The rear mast lights also need a bit of work especially, as one of them seems to be out of alignment and the other has a hole in its lens. Either way though, even though this was the only video I recorded on this day, it was still a nice one to film. Glad to see the Safetran mechanical bell here still sounds quite nice too, as this is one of the last three crossings along the line with a mechanical bell.
They/Them for me, please.
