*originally recorded on 7-31-21*

Neither signal is operational.
Signal on the left: 1 pair of Safetran 8 inch lights, 1 pair of Modern Industries 8 inch lights, 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.

On July 31st, Elliot and I went out to the Heart of Georgia Railroad to chase the SAM's Presidential Flyer from the Georgia Veterans State Park to Plains and back. This was the first crossing I caught them at, where we see them rolling through with a GP38-2 on each end, after having stopped to flag the crossing. Interestingly enough, these are the same ones I'd caught on a HOG train the month prior.

This crossing is a rather nice one, so it's a shame the signals here didn't work. It appears that these signals were installed by the SCL back in the late-70s and are still mostly original, though at some point the HOG replaced the original Safetran mechanical bell on the cantilever signal with a the current NEG e-bell.
The relay case here was receiving AC power, so I'm guessing the track circuit and/or detection equipment here failed, which is why these classic signals sadly didn't activate. Hopefully I can get back down here at some point and record them in action though.
They/Them for me, please.
