*originally recorded on 11-22-21*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.

After catching the westbound mixed freight at 57th Street, I decided to head to the west side of Birmingham to get some stuff, especially since Amtrak was still coming with a heritage unit leading. I wound-up being able to beat the mixed freight over to this crossing completely unintentionally, as they stopped and waited at 14th Street for a while before continuing on. Here we see the westbound NS mixed freight once more.

This crossing is another pretty decent one, though not exactly spectacular. It was installed by NS back in the early 2000s, though, interestingly enough, the mast of the far signal also appears to have been re-used from elsewhere. Not entirely sure where it came from, when it was installed (other than being before 2011) or if it's original to this crossing, but it's certainly a bit unusual to see, nonetheless. I will admit, I was kinda hoping that this crossing had a pair of GS Type 1s, but it turns out it was actually a pair of Type 2s. Either way though, it's still a pretty decent little crossing and I'm glad I've gotten it recorded.
