*originally recorded on 12-19-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 1.5 pairs of US&S 8 inch lights, 1 WCH 8 inch light, a US&S Teardrop bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After Amtrak 90 came through, CSX I038 was running right behind it, so Elliot and I swapped the crossings we were at to get it. As such, I moved down to this crossing and not too long after, I038 came roaring through with an ET44AH on the head-end and an AC44CW working as the rear DPU.
This crossing is another very nice one. It appears that the ACL had originally put some signals up here in the 1940s as well (similar to County Camp Road), but in the 1970s, the SCL replaced the front-left light on the closer signal with a WCH one and, likely around the same time, the gate mech was also replaced with the current WCH gate mech. Not sure if the other signal retained its original gate mech at this time or note.
Then, in the early-2000s, CSX replaced the far signal entirely with the current one, though it originally had a General Signals e-bell (I'm guessing a Type 2). Then, between 2016 and 2019, the GS e-bell on the far signal must've died, so CSX replaced it with the current NEG e-bell.
Thankfully, despite these various upgrades, the closer signal still retains its original 2nd Gen US&S Teardrop bell. Like with County Camp Road, it still sounds fairly healthy, though it does ring a bit faster but also seems to skip a few more beats. Hopefully this crossing remains unchanged for many more years to come as well, but either way, I'm glad I've been able to record it too.
They/Them for me, please.
