*originally recorded on 12-19-21*
Signal on the left: 1 pair of Safetran 8 inch lights, 1 pair of WRRS 8 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching I038, we saw that CSX had a southbound lined through Kingstree, so we went closer to the downtown to go get it, and I chose to set-up here while Elliot set-up at the next crossing south. After a little while of waiting, our third (and my favorite) catch of the day: a southbound mixed freight with a YN3 Dash-8 leading a YN2 AC44CW!
This crossing is also another rather nice one, featuring an SCL install from the late-70s that's still largely original! At some point, the rear lights on the far signal were replaced with WRRS 8 inch lights. TBH, these very well could also be original to the crossing, but either way, they were certainly most likely re-used from somewhere. Then, sometime between 2012 and 2014, the original Safetran mechanical bell on the far signal seems to have died and was replaced by the current NEG e-bell. Since then, thankfully, no major changes have occurred to this crossing. The closer signal is also still pretty much entirely original, which is rather nice to see. Hopefully this crossing remains mostly unchanged for many more years to come.
They/Them for me, please.
