*originally recorded on 2-11-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a dead General Signals (Type 2?) electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After the southbound mixed freight came through, I continued on documenting crossings, reaching this one first. As I stepped out of the car, I thought I heard a train blowing through Roanoke, so I quickly grabbed my camera and set-up. Sure enough, a few minutes later, and this southbound intermodal train comes through with a pair of BNSF ES44C4s leading an NS AC44C6M.

This crossing is a pretty decent one, featuring a largely original early 2000s CSX install. It appears that at some point, the far signal's original GS e-bell here died and was replaced with the current NEG, but no major changes appear to have occured before or after then. That being said, it appears that the closer signal's e-bell is due for replacement as well, as it just makes a pop when it starts and then doesn't sound at all after.
On the bright side though, the far signal still features its original diagonally-striped (though very heavily faded) gate arm, with two of its original incandescent gate lights. Kinda surprised that CSX hasn't tried to replace it yet like the closer arm, but the striping seems to be in much better shape on the other side of it, so that could be why.
They/Them for me, please.
