*originally recorded on 2-12-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, 2 pairs of Federal Signal 12x20 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, 2 pairs of Federal Signal 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After I caught Q220, I decided to head over to this crossing on the Lineville Sub and wait. At around sunset, this northbound mixed freight came through with an ET44AH leading an ES40DC, an AC44CW, and another ES40DC on the head-end, with an ES44AH working as the mid-train DPU. Interestingly enough, the second ES40DC on this train was also CSX 5500, the Spirit of Cincinnati!

This crossing is another rather nice one, featuring another early 70s SCL install. In the 1980s, either the SBD or CSX replaced all of the mast lights here with the current WCH 12x24 inch lights, but the crossing remained unchanged after that for a few decades. The only other notable change here was that sometime between 2007 and 2013, when CSX replaced the original Safetran mechanical bell on the far signal with the current NEG e-bell, likely due to it dying. Thankfully, the crossing has remained unchanged since then and still retains a pair of early Safetran gate mechs as well as a full set of early Federal Signal 12x20 inch lights. The remaining Safetran mechanical bell here also sounds rather nice. Another nice little thing about this crossing is that the far signal still features an incandescent gate light as well.
They/Them for me, please.
