Blue Book Rd, Odessa, MO
Another Mexico Sub catch for today, and the last active crossing in Odessa I needed to film at. This train was one I heard blowing its horn for Northern Blvd. At first I wasn't going to film this train since I wanted to take a break from filming trains this weekend, but I decided to change my mind and chase this train out to Odessa since I needed to wrap up with filming the crossings in Odessa. The crossing I needed to film was Blue Book Rd since it happens to be the last active crossing in Odessa as Mayview, MO is right around the corner from this spot. I believe this setup was done by the Chicago & Alton at around the same time Curtis Rd's lone signal got installed. No idea what the original bell this crossing had. That bell was replaced with a gs type 2 (which Myles filmed this crossing in action when it had a gs type 2). At some point recently, the gs type 2 died which got replaced with the current gs type 3. Interestingly enough, the light on the relay case turns on when the bell activates to let crews know the bell is ringing. Train itself was an eastbound manifest with two gp40-2s trailing. Sorry for the bounciness of the video. The train was going pretty fast which made the tripod shake a little.
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.
