After catching A746 in Huguley, I went on up to this crossing to wait for it, in case it went all the way to West Point, GA. Unfortunately, the local freight would get run around its train at the industries it was working to the west of me, and head back to Notasulga. While it was working, however, I was able to catch this northbound mixed freight coming through this crossing with an ES40DC leading an AC44CW. This would sadly be the last train I'd see all day, as nothing else came through before sunset and I returned back up to Huntsville.
This crossing is a very nice one, featuring a pair of gateless late-90s CSX signals that are still pretty much entirely original. It appears that these had directly replaced a pair of gateless signals from the WofA back in the late-90s, and basically haven't changed since. Both GS Type 1s here still work and sound pretty decent, if a bit scratchy, but it's nice to be able to record a gateless crossing with a pair of them.
Like with CR 187 and West Point Road, this was another crossing I'd wanted to get on my trip here back in 2018, but sadly wasn't able to do so. Either way, I'm certainly glad I was finally able to do so. Hopefully these signals get to remain around here unchanged for many more years to come.
