Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

This was another crossing I made sure to record today, as, as far as I'm aware, this is the only crossing on the NS Memphis District East End to be a pure early to mid 2010s incandescent NS install, without re-using any old equipment. The other two crossings with signals from this time period either have LEDs (Jackson Street in Courtland) or re-used the gate arms and/or lights (Mallard Road near Hillsboro and Segers Road in Huntsville). It's also one of the two crossings of the ones I went to today that wasn't the same as the others at first glance (outside of the number of lights).

There's been a change to this crossing:

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right; 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

While I was waiting at Houston Street, I noticed something looked a little odd about this crossing from where I was, but I couldn't quite tell what it was exactly, so I went over here to check it out. Turns out that, for some odd reason, the Safetran Type 3 e-bell that had been here was replaced with a WCH mechanical bell! Not sure why they put up a mechanical bell here as the replacement, but I sure ain't complainin'!

*originally recorded on 2-23-22*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

On February 23rd, I left Huntsville for a return trip to South Carolina. While making my way out of Alabama, I saw there was an eastbound coming on the Memphis East, so I decided to stop and catch the train in Scottsboro. After a while of waiting, the train, which turned-out to be NS 102, came through with a pair of SD70ACes for power.

As you can see, not too much has changed here since I last recorded this crossing. The closer signal had its original NEG gate lights replaced and now sports a set of RECO LEDs, but otherwise the crossing is exactly the same as when I last recorded it. The WCH mechanical bell is still here than thankfully still sounds fairly healthy, so hopefully it'll remain around for a good while to come.
