Owatonna, MN. Minnesota seems to be a hotbed of these. There is that one left at that crossing in California where the other one was knocked down (see on one of Patrick's DVDs). Most of the ones left standing in Wisconsin were probably removed within the last few years, except the ones at Haven (north of Sheboygan) may still be in service (minus their stop signs).

Two crossings that I know of. Both of these crossings are in Mason City, IA

This crossing is on an out of service UP line.

This crossing is on the CP.

There are a couple other signals that I know of, but they aren't located at crossings.

Steamboat Rock Iowa, on the Iowa River Railroad (Ex UPRR, Ex CNW, EX MStl)
This one in the town itself on County Road S56

And these two North of Steamboat Rock... As the line curves a LOT in the river valley area.
(Yes, the other crossbuck has been replaced since this photo was taken)

That'd be my shot. Those used to stand guard at the nearby Highway 51/Main St. crossing until 1990 when the Wisconsin and Calumet Railroad installed the Modern Industries cantilevers that are there now. Somebody was using their brain and had the Griswolds preserved next to the depot. I bought a CD-ROM of old slides including one of that crossing dating from 1974. They were already missing their stop signs by then. The one with the bell that you see in the linked picture was on the west side of the crossing, signaling traffic going east. The CD also has a picture of the depot from 1990 just a few weeks after the Griswolds were moved and the cantilevers put up.

KLM92 wrote:The signal on the west side of the tracks on 22nd Ave NE in Minneapolis is not made by Griswold it is a Raco. After Griswold went out and Raco took over they redesigned the rotating banner signal with a cabinet base with the banner rotating mech inside.

Check out http://www.railroadsignals.us/xing/rot/rotban.htm There are some good pictures of one that looks to be out of service.

I had seen several other pictures of the Raco type somewhere, but I can't find them right now.
There's at least one more pair of those a little further south down the line:

I may have to do a little digging on that line and see what its true status is and what its chances for reactivation are. I'm crossing my fingers that the fact that the crossings are not paved over and the signs say EXEMPT rather than TRACKS OUT OF SERVICE are good signs.
