*originally recorded on 7-18-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights, a Modern Industries mechanical bell, a GRS gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights, a GRS gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

On July 18th, I got on up in the morning and started heading back to Alabama as I needed to get onto class. As I got down to the Louisville area, I noticed I was running about an hour ahead of when I'd need to get to class, so I decided to stop here at this crossing on the CSX Mainline Subdivision and see if I could get this crossing recorded. After about an hour of waiting, this southbound CSX autorack train came rolling through with an AC44CW pulling on the head-end and an ES44AH working as the mid-train DPU. The train also had a friendly crew, which was rather nice.

This crossing is a rather nice as well, and is one I'd been wanting to record for a while. The signals here are a 70s L&N install, and are still almost fully original! This appears to be a later L&N install as well, given that the lights here are all 12x20s, and I hadn't recorded a "pure" late L&N install yet that was gated. The Modern Industries mechanical bell here still sounds very healthy, which is rather nice to see. The closer signal also still retains a diagonally striped gate arm, which is also rather nice to see. Hopefully these classic late-L&N signals continue to remain untouched for many more years to come, but either way, I'm glad I was able to get these guys recorded as well.
