*originally recorded on 12-21-22*
Signal on the left: 1 pair of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, 1 pair of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, and an NEG electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs and a WCH mechanical bell.
After chasing M531 to Camden, we went over to Bruceton to see if there was any chance I125 was in the yard, as we hadn't seen any signs of it yet. As we got there, I heard an I126 was leaving the yard, but didn't think too much of it. After confirming there wasn't an I125 in the yard, we decided to head west to Huntingdon to get some food, when I spotted I126 on our way there. As such, I decided to head on over to this crossing (while Ethan shot a different one), to catch it and begin a (shorter) chase along the CSX Memphis Subdivision. Here we see our third train of the day: I126 with a YN2 AC44CW leading a YN3 AC44CW!
This crossing is another rather nice one, featuring another gateless 1980s CSX install. It appears that in the late-90s or 2000s, CSX replaced the bell on the far signal with a General Signals e-bell. The crossing then remained unchanged for several years, until sometime between 2018 and 2019, when CSX upgraded this crossing to LED. Finally, sometime between 2019 and 2022, CSX replaced the bell on the far signal again, this time with the current NEG e-bell.
Thankfully, the closer signal still retains its original WCH mechanical bell, which still sounds fairly nice, if noticeably rough. Hopefully these signals remain unchanged for many more years to come, but either way, I'm glad I got to record it.
