New Ostella Road (TN 129), Cornersville, TN
*originally recorded on 9-26-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching Q028 in Dellrose, Ethan and I went on up to this crossing on the south side of Cornersville. After a little while of waiting, Q026 came through with a pair of ET44AHs leading and another ET44AH working as the mid-train DPU.
This crossing is another nice one. It features a pair of L&N-era gated signals, which had the lights upgraded in the 90s with the gate mechs and bell being replaced in the 2000s. The crossing remained unchanged until the early 2010s, when the General Signals e-bell here was replaced and the crossing got an LED upgrade with the rest of the line. Still not a bad crossing though, and was actually one of the ones I had wanted to record when I first visited this part of the line back in 2017.

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

On January 26th, I went out to begin to record the remaining 20 or so signalized crossings I had yet to record (or, in the case of at least two known upgrades, re-record) on the CSX S&NA North Subdivision. This was my first train of the day, and easily my best catch of the day: CSX I029 with a pair of YN2 AC44CWs for power!
As you can see, since I was last here, CSX has sadly upgraded this crossing entirely, replacing the old L&N double mast signals that had been here. I believe this upgrade had happened last year, though it was certainly discovered to have happened last year. The signals are fairly standard for a modern CSX install, though only featuring one bell like the old signals, located on the same side of the crossing as the bell on the old install as well.
Either way, I'm quite glad I got this crossing recorded again, since it's one less one that I'd still need to get otherwise.
