Those side lights need backgrounds and maybe??? a bell.

If you look carefully, those aren't side lights. They are white lights for the train to alert if the crossing is working or not.

Not sure if I agree with that one. They look like regular lights to me without the backrounds.

I tried to look up that particular crossing on Streetview... unfortunately only the Main road one block away from this crossing is on Streetview. One thing I was able to tell though... it appears that crossing is actually a very narrow street, not a pedestrian crossing.

Here's the link if you are interested. That street where that crossing is looks like it is Woodlawn Ave according to the map.

I don't think so either. The latest video from the "Grade Crossing Alley" topic shows those backgroundless lights, and they flash red like normal 8" lights do.

If there is a signal on the other side of the tracks, the bell could be there. We can't see the other signal, so the bell will remain a mystery.
