*originally recorded on 12-3-23*

Signal on the left: 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs and 1 pair of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs and a WRRS mechanical bell.

After I142 came through, I went to Facebook to give a heads-up about the DPU, when I saw that M575 was coming south with a special DPU as well. I then soon heard I142 meeting M575 at the siding at Salmons to my north, so I quickly made my way back down to this crossing to catch it. After a bit of waiting, I was able to get M575 heading south out of Franklin with an ES44AH leading an ET44AH on the head-end, and another ES44AH, CSX 1976, the Conrail Heritage Unit, working as the train's DPU!
This would be the only other train I'd catch on the Mainline Sub all day, so it's definitely rather neat that both had neat locomotives on them. I've also managed to get quite a few heritage units lately, which is rather neat, though I do also find it kind of amusing that I also managed to record both Conrail heritage units within a few days of each other.

This crossing is another great one, featuring a classic early-70s L&N install at it. Sometime between 2008 and 2013, the front lights on the far signal were replaced by CSX with the current reused Safetran lights, but the crossing remained largely unchanged otherwise. Unfortunately, sometime within the past year or so, and relatively recently given that the socket-arms from three of the lights are still laying at the base of the closer signal, CSX has upgraded the lights here to LED, which is a bit of a shame as the MI lights here are all the earlier design of 12 inch head, which seem to be somewhat hard to find. Thankfully, the older MI lights are still around, along with the classic WRRS bell that's original to the signals here. Hopefully they last for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to film them.
