Alexander Road, near Waugh, AL

*originally recorded on 8-2-21*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs and an NEG electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a WCH mechanical bell.

After catching Q601 in Franklin, I'd tried to chase it to the AL 229 crossing just north of Shorter, but we both wound-up reaching the crossing at the same time, sadly. As such, I continued on over to this crossing north of Waugh, where I got to film Q601 heading towards Montgomery under a severe thunderstorm warning. After this, CSX was about to send another train north along the AWP Sub, but the severe thunderstorm moving east basically forced me to go elsewhere.

This crossing is another nice one, featuring what appears to have been a 90s CSX install. However, at some point in the 2010s (I'm guessing between 2012 and 2015), the signal on the far side was replaced entirely, though I'm not sure if it would've retained its original WCH mechanical bell at that point or not. Thankfully, the closer signal is still entirely original, which is nice to see. The bell on this side sounds rather slow for some reason, but it still sounds pretty healthy over all, so hopefully it remains around for a good while longer.
Also, apologies for messing around with the camera a bit after the crossing activated, I wasn't sure if I had my shot level when it already was.
They/Them for me, please.
