Seddon Road, Riverside, AL
*originally recorded on 3-27-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
After catching the mixed freight in Lincoln, I continued documenting crossings as I worked my way west down the East End District towards Leeds. When I got to this crossing, I decided to set-up and wait for a train. I soon heard over the scanner that a hi-rail truck working their way west down the line would have to stop in Pell City to wait for two trains: NS 186 and NS 28D. Eventually, after about 45 minutes of waiting (and watching the hi-rail truck roll past), NS 186 came flying through with an ET44AC leading a Dash-9 on the head-end and another Dash-9 and ET44AC working as the mid-train DPUs.
This crossing is another great one, being another "pure" 1990s NS install. However, due to the T intersection on my side of the crossing, the right-hand signal lacks any front lights, only have two pairs of side lights! I do always like unusual set-ups like this, so I chose to remain on this side of the crossing even as the sunlight moved to the other side. Both Safetran mechanical bells here also sound very healthy, which is just an added bonus, IMHO.
Interestingly enough, while Seddon Road goes to the right of my camera here, due to how the stop sign is positioned here, it makes it seem like Riverside chose to give priority to the side street coming off to my left (Frazier Road), as they only have a yield sign (which is mounted a bit far back from the actual intersection, for some reason).
Also, with this crossing, I have recorded every mechanical bell on the NS East End District's mainline between Leeds and Eastaboga.
They/Them for me, please.

Re: Seddon Road, Riverside, AL
As of 9-28-24, the only major change here has been that the far signal has sadly had its bell die:
