*originally recorded on 2-22-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.

After catching 55G in Soddy-Daisy, I decided to chase it north some to snag some more pictures of the Penn Central heritage unit trailing on it. However, at Sale Creek, the train pulled into the siding to meet a couple of southbounds, so I decided to set-up at this crossing for the first of them. After a bit of waiting, I was able to catch my eighth train of the day: NS 189 with a BNSF ES44AC leading a BNSF SD70ACe for power. Interestingly, despite being symboled as a mixed freight, this train was all autoracks.

This crossing is another nice one, featuring what I believe are a pair of gated signals that I believe NS installed back in the late-90s. At some point, however, the bell here was replaced with the current GS Type 2 e-bell, though thankfully nothing else seems to have changed to this crossing since then. Interestingly, the bell here rings while the gates are down, though I don't entirely believe this is intentional as neither gate arm seems to lower all the way. Thankfully, speaking of gate arms, the closer signal does still retain an older diagonally-striped gate arm, which is rather nice to see. The far signal had its gate arm replaced at some point within the past few years, though the gate lights on it are miswired and all flash together.
