Private Crossing, Pride, AL
*originally recorded on 6-17-23*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a dead General Signals (Type 2?) electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.
After catching NS A83, I continued on west, only to see there was something else lined east behind it. As such, I decided to stop at this crossing and set-up. After a short wait (and a short chat with the site manager for the quarry here, who was friendly and okay with me filming this crossing), this eastbound mixed freight, I believe NS 16Z(?), came flying through with a pair of BNSF ES44DCs leading a pair of NS Dash-9s for power.
This crossing's a fairly nice one, and I'm glad to have finally recorded it. The signals here were installed by NS back in the early-2000s, it appears, and have remained largely original since. Unfortunately, the bell on the far side has gone dead, which is a bit of a shame to see, but these signals still look rather nice regardless. Also, IDK why, but these signals honestly remind me a bit more of the 2000s NS installs typically seen up in the midwest than the ones down here in the southeast...
It's also nice to have been able to film another private crossing in action.

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a dead General Signals (Type 2?) electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
After getting the upgrades documented, vtgrxrman and I continued back east, where we found the local freight finishing-up work at a customer on the east side of Cherokee. As such, we continued back over to this private crossing here in Pride to see about filming them. Not too long after, we were able to catch our sixth and final train of the day: NS A87 heading back east to Sheffield Yard with an AC44C6M leading an SD40-2 for power.
After this, we went over to Sheffield Yard so Harris could film one of the induction street lights over there starting-up as night fell before returning back home to Huntsville for the evening.
As you can see, sometime after I last filmed this crossing back in 2023, NS replaced the signal on the far side of the crossing with a brand new incandescent Siemens one. For the closer signal, the dead bell was strangely left in place but it appears that NS has replaced the middle gate light with a new LED one since I was last here. Thankfully, nothing else appears to have changed to the crossing, and the closer signal even still retains an older RECO incandescent gate light!
