CR 248, Glen, MS
*originally recorded on 8-27-25*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After catching 204 at Town Creek, I hopped back on the highway and continued on west. As I was entering Mississippi, I heard over the scanner that there was a 101 nearby that I was catching-up with, so I decided to try and chase it west since I knew I had time to catch it at least once. I decided to hop off US 72 at Glen and go for it at this crossing, since I hadn't filmed it yet before. Thankfully, I was able to beat it here with a few minutes to spare, and here we get to see my second, and best, train of the day: NS 101 with a UP AC4460CW leading a UP C44ACM for power!
This crossing is another pretty decent one, and another one out in Mississippi that I hadn't filmed before. These signals were installed by NS back in the 2000s, like most of the others on the NS Memphis West in Mississippi, and like all of those others these have barely changed since installation. I believe they had replaced a pair of gated 80s NS signals, but I can't say for certain as I can't seem to find the post on Facebook that showed an old photo of them from like the 90s or early-2000s. Either way, this is still a decent crossing, especially since the main lights are still fully incandescent, and I'm glad to have been able to record it. I will admit, I do quite like how the one pair of side lights line-up with the front lights on the closer signal.
